School Programs - Sliding Sports

Elementary Schools

New this winter, the Whistler Sliding Centre will be offering the “Sliding School” program to elementary student’s grades 3 and above. Students will receive instruction from certified and experienced instructors in Luge along with a tour of the world class facility and host venue for the 2010 Olympic Sliding events.

  • Pricing: $20.00 per student per visit for Luge
  • Dates: November 13 to March 18 (excluding Pro D days and holidays and international competition weeks).
  • WSC is equipped to accommodate up to 60 students per day, from varying grades. The luge program is targeted for student’s grades 3 and above (ages 8-16)
  • We are pleased to organize refrigeration plant tours and full venue tours to compliment the sport experience

Secondary Schools

New this winter, the Whistler Sliding Centre will be offering the “Sliding School” program to students grades 7-12. Students will receive instruction from certified and experienced instructors in Luge and/or Bobsleigh along with a tour of the world class facility and host venue for the 2010 Olympic Sliding events.

  • Pricing: $20.00 per student per visit for Luge, and $35.00 per student visit for Bobsleigh.
  • Dates: November 13th to March 18th (excluding Pro D days and holidays and international competition weeks).
  • The luge program is targeted for student’s grades 3-10 (ages 8-16). The bobsleigh program is for students 16 years of age and older.
  • We are pleased to organize refrigeration plant tours and full venue tours to compliment the sport experience.
  • We have several volunteer opportunities for secondary students to assist with their graduation requirements.

Universities

The Whistler Sliding Centre invites university students to come try Bobsleigh and Skeleton this winter season. Students will receive instruction from certified/experienced instructors in Skeleton and/or Bobsleigh along with a tour of our world class facility and host venue for the 2010 Olympic Sliding events. The Whistler Sliding Centre offers universities exclusive use of the track during certain dates and times for their own sessions.

University Program Details:

  • $35 per person for Bobsleigh and Skeleton during one of our sessions.
  • Each participant will receive 2 runs. With the bobsleigh program they will have the opportunity to be both a pilot and a brakeman in their own sled.
  • WSC is equipped to accommodate up to 16 students per session; we can offer multiple sessions if required.
  • Dates available October – March (this excludes holidays and international competition weeks).

To enhance the Whistler experience for your students we would also like to offer group rates on Nordic ski or snowshoe day-passes and rentals at Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley. Other activities available at the park include, biathlon, ski jumping, ski orienteering, and tobogganing. Athlete Speaker Opportunities

New this year, we would like to offer the opportunity for athletes to come and speak to your students about their respective sports, their experiences and how to get involved. There will be opportunities to ask questions and get involved. Dates will be subject to athletes' availability in their training schedule. Sports include Nordic Skiing, Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton.
