Specialist, Information Technology (for all venues)

The Specialist, Information Technology is responsible for the day-to-day function of information technology services at Whistler Sport Legacies including Whistler Olympic Park, Whistler Athletes’ Centre, and Whistler Sliding Centre. Reporting to Manager, Information Technology this role works collaboratively with management and staff to ensure best practice processes are applied ensuring efficient and effective delivery of IT services, and positions WSL to meet the technology needs of staff, athletes, partners, and guests.  This Regular Full Time position is required to work extended hours and weekends during key WSL initiatives, and works out of Whistler Athletes' Centre as a home base. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Contribute to the overall objectives of WSL
  • Work collaboratively with WSL management team to ensure the venue’s seasonal/event needs are met based upon a work plan and timeline
  • Provide maintenance of the corporate telecommunications, networks, and core information systems including routine hardware maintenance in a timely manner as required
  • Champion and adhere to WSL corporate policies and procedures and contribute to their development
  • Foster a strong culture of health & safety; work with Human Resources and Safety to ensure all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met
  • Support venues and events by providing software / hardware systems pertaining to public address system, CCTV system, Gate Access System
  • Respond to requests for assistance with software, hardware, network or peripheral devices within appropriate timelines
  • Provide day-to-day technical and support assistance to all on-site or remote users for software, hardware, network or peripheral device assistance
  • Manage active directory for all users, groups, phones, and computers
  • Monitor, service, troubleshoot, and repair all computers as directed on a daily and regular basis
  • Assist with maintenance of all software/hardware components and updates as required
  • Maintain and service network as required to achieve a 99% up time
  • Maintain and support CCTV network
  • Assist with asset tracking for all computers, phones, servers, printers, cell phones, etc.
  • Perform all duties in a confidential manner

  • Assist the team with other duties as assigned or required
Education/Experience: 
  • Relevant post secondary degree an asset
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a similar role required
  • Valid BC driver’s license and usage of personal vehicle required
  • Sound knowledge of information systems and implementation methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of current trends and developments in Information technology
  • Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL for corporate information systems including establishing backup procedures to “point of recovery”, database integrity and security
  • Experience implementing and managing Windows server in a virtual environment
  • Experience with configuration and management of routers switches and wireless devices
  • Experience with change management of core telephone switch fundamentals with VOIP telephone handsets
  • Point of sale experience

Physical Requirements: 
  • May be required to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25Kgs without assistance
