Coordinator, Sport

Job Location: 
Whistler Sliding Centre

The Coordinator, Sport is the first point of contact with sliding athletes, volunteers, coaches, the public, and sport organizations at Whistler Sliding Centre.  As liaison with various sport service stakeholders this role assists the Head Coach/Manager, Sport as the primary point of contact for sport users.  Also, this role assists to provide guidance, leadership, development opportunities to athletes, coaches, and event planners as directed.  With an unwavering belief in sport development in Canada, in accordance with WSL’s mission, vision, and values, assist the Head Coach/Manager, Sport in the delivery of the WSL sport plan as it relates to WSC.

Reporting to the Head Coach/Manager, Sport, responsibilities include administration, accounts receivable / payable, school programs, athlete recruitment, sport programming, and communication to sliding sport membership.  This position requires ability to work evenings and weekends.  

Responsibilities: 

Administration

  • Maintain required membership records including: data base, waivers, fees and forms
  • Respond to all inquiries regarding athletes, volunteers, coaches, the public, recruiting, etc.
  • Liaise with volunteers, parents, coaches, the public, and athletes
  • Main point of contact and liaison with sliding sport stakeholders
  • Perform website and social media maintenance and updates as required
  • Maintain Insurance renewals as required
  • Support the development and maintenance of:
  • sport programming communications
  • development and maintenance of sport agreements and contracts
  • Prepare and administer athlete invoicing
  • Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable related to WSC sport programs
  • Maintain equipment inventory
  • Work evenings and/or weekends as required
  • Support the team and ensure highest possible customer service
  • Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Athlete Recruitment and Programming

  • Schedule, promote, manage registration, collect fees, prepare and circulate information including lead up, follow-up, and next step details for recruitment camps/schools
  • Assist with other special initiatives: friends and family days, public recruitment events, etc.
  • Proactively continue to evolve Sliding Sport programs in the Sea to Sky Corridor
Education/Experience: 
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a coordination role an asset
  • Knowledge of sport programming required
  • Sport background an asset
  • Knowledge of Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton sliding sports an asset
  • Social Media and Website experience an asset
  • Class 4 Driver’s License or Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License an asset

  • Ability to work efficiently in variety of settings including with the general public, volunteers, sport groups and organizations
  • Proficient MS office computer skills required
  • Quick evaluation and decision making skills

  • Takes personal accountability and responsibility for actions; takes initiative to find creative solutions to problems or issues
  • Flexible and adaptable to work efficiently in variety of settings
  • Willingness to assist other team members (perhaps outside the department) as needed and requested
  • Passion for exceptional customer service is essential
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs
