Our shuttle bus will meet you at the Gondola Transit Exchange to start your tour from Whistler Village. Your driver guide will provide insight into the world of sliding sports and the fastest track on the planet, as you are driven to the sliding centre and then up our private road to the top start house. From the top of the facility, where the athletes prepare their sleds and officials ensure the athletes are adhering to the rules of the sport, you will enjoy spectacular views looking out over the Whistler valley and surrounding mountains. Learn what it takes to be an athlete and an ice maker, walk inside the top portion of the track, and see first hand the intricacies of track cooling and ice preparations. Your journey back down the track will include a stop at the Finish Dock to see where the athletes complete their run, the officials weigh scale, and where the champions celebrated during the Olympics. A stop at the Control Tower completes the behind the scenes tour with a look at the nerve center of the track timing, safety monitoring, and results compilation.
At the end of the tour you will have a ½ hour of free time to enjoy the displays at the Guest Services building, to take a photo on a sled, see video footage of athletes on the track, or discover your own gold medal moment on our podium. Tour guests are also welcome to walk into the Olympic stadium area to see Thunderbird corner, which is the final corner of the 16 that make up the track. Guests will then be transported back to the Gondola Exchange in the Whistler Village.
